Frequently asked questions
Why does é take two bytes?
UTF-8 uses one byte for basic ASCII and two to four bytes for other characters.
What does "’" mean?
It is an apostrophe whose UTF-8 bytes were read as another encoding. Decoding the bytes correctly fixes it.
